Our program of cold rolled strip includes an extensive range of materials with very good properties with respect to, for example, strength, hardness and workability.

Austenitic stainless steel strips

Austenitic stainless steel strips have superior qualities regarding resistance to corrosion combined with very good spring properties, low relaxation and high fatigue strength. The strength in these grades is achieved by cold rolling, which makes them available in a wide range of dimensions and mechanical properties. A further increase in strength can be obtained by a simple heat treatment in the temperature range 350-480oC (662-896oF), depending on grade.

Nickel alloy strips

Nickel alloys exhibit high strength and excellent corrosion resistance, making it a great material for a variety of applications. ZXS offers a wide range of nickel alloys including corrosion resistant, high temperature, thermal expansion, and other high performance nickel alloys. These include Hastelloy®, Haynes®, Inconel®, Incoloy®, Monel®, and other products. Depending on alloy composition and condition, nickel alloys can provide properties like excellent resistance to wet corrosion or high temperature corrosion as well as high temperature strength and creep resistance. This makes them suitable for especially demanding applications. Common alloying elements are, for example, Cr, Mo, Ti and Al.

Advantages of Nickel alloy strips

  • Highest degree of electrical conductivity
  • Lowest electrical resistivity available in pure nickel strip
  • Homogeneity, microcleanliness, and close composition control to enhance weldability
  • Low levels of surface oxides to reduce die wear and provide excellent solderability
  • Excellent formability
  • Resistance to tarnishing or chemical reactivity in ambient temperature and atmospheric environments
  • Ease of plating
  • Moderate resistance to acids
  • Excellent resistance to caustic solutions

Applications

Our nickel strip products are mainly used to connect multiple NiMh, NiCd or Li-Ion batteries into a battery pack. Other battery applications include battery tabs, cathodes, switchgear connections and nickel mesh within battery catalysts.

These Applications include, but are not limited to:

Duplex (austenitic-ferritic) stainless steel strips

Duplex stainless steel strips have excellent corrosion properties and are not as sensitive to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) as austenitic steels. Thermal expansion is lower than for austenitic steels, which can offer design advantages in certain cases.

Advantages of Duplex stainless steel strips

Strength: Duplex stainless steels are about twice as strong as regular austenitic or ferritic stainless steels.

Toughness and ductility:  Duplex stainless steels have significantly better toughness and ductility than ferritic grades;

Corrosion resistance:  As with all stainless steels, corrosion resistance depends mostly on the composition of the stainless steel.

Cost: Duplex stainless steels have lower nickel and molybdenum contents than their austenitic counterparts of similar corrosion resistance.

Stress corrosion cracking resistance: Duplex stainless steels show very good stress corrosion cracking (SCC) resistance, a property they have “inherited” from the ferritic side.

Titanium Strip and Foil

Titanium exhibits a unique combination of properties including excellent corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, and outstanding strength to weight ratios. Titanium is produced as commercially pure or alloyed. Commercially pure titanium is typically used in implantable medical applications whereas the titanium alloys are produced with the addition of vanadium or aluminum for applications such as aerospace.
ZXS Precision strips processes strip and foil products in Titanium CP (Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 4) and Titanium 3Al-2.5V (Grade 9).

Advantages of Titanium Strip

Low density, resistance to corrosion, and erosion-corrosion, very thin, conductive oxide surface film, smooth surface that limits adhesion of external materials, surface promotes drop-wise condensation.

Titanium Strip Applications

It is used in the chemical industry, machinery, metallurgy industry, electrolytic plating, medical industry, power plant, aerospace, petrochemical industry, navigation, military fields, and ocean engineering. Fusion welding of the commercially pure titanium grades is successful when completely protected from oxygen and nitrogen.

ZXS offers controlled atmosphere annealing lines specially equipped for titanium alloys and specialized cleaning, uugerer tension leveling, slitting, edging, and oscillate winding. We also provide Tantalum / Nickel / Tungsten / Molybdenum / Zirconium / Niobium foil, and strip.
